Gameweek 9 delivered plenty of drama, including shock results, costly mistakes, red cards and a huge victory at Anfield. Here's a look at all the action from the weekend.

Chelsea 2-0 Manchester United

Another frustrating afternoon for Manchester United, who suffered a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea. The Blues took control through Morgan Rogers before Cole Palmer converted a penalty to secure the victory.

However, the biggest talking point was Martinez's dismissal. His unnecessary challenge resulted in a penalty and a second yellow card, leaving United with an uphill battle.

Chelsea will be delighted with another positive result, while United continue to struggle with individual mistakes and poor decision-making. Palmer's influence remains crucial as the Blues begin to find some consistency.

Bournemouth 2-0 Leeds United

Bournemouth secured a deserved 2-0 victory, helped by a costly mistake from Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford.

His error from a goal-kick gifted Evanilson the opening goal, which the forward gratefully accepted. Amine Adli then added a second late on to confirm the three points.

Bournemouth did what was required, taking advantage of their opponents' mistake and remaining organised throughout. Leeds, meanwhile, will be frustrated by another example of how individual errors can prove costly in the Premier League.

Brentford 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest endured another disappointing afternoon, losing 2-0 away to Brentford.

Forest's problems were compounded when Nikola Milenković scored an own goal to give the hosts the lead.

Igor Thiago later doubled Brentford's advantage, securing a comfortable victory.

Brentford will be pleased with another strong home performance, while Forest desperately need to improve their consistency. Individual mistakes are becoming a concern, and they'll need to start turning performances into points.

Coventry City 3-1 Sunderland

Coventry produced an impressive attacking display to beat Sunderland 3-1.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto opened the scoring before Taiwo Awoniyi and Jack Rudoni added further goals. Sunderland responded through Enzo Le Fée's penalty, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.

Three goals and three different scorers will give Coventry plenty of confidence heading into their next fixture. Sunderland, meanwhile, will need to tighten things up defensively if they're to compete consistently.

Hull City 2-2 Ipswich Town

Hull and Ipswich shared the points after an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Ipswich looked in control after goals from Florentino and Julio Enciso, but Hull showed plenty of character to fight back. Tim Iroegbunam and Oli McBurnie found the net to earn the hosts a valuable point.

Ipswich will be disappointed not to have seen out the game after scoring twice, while Hull deserve credit for their resilience. Neither side will be entirely satisfied, but it was an entertaining contest.

Manchester City 0-1 Brighton

One of the biggest surprises of the weekend came at the Etihad, where Brighton secured a memorable 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

Yasin Ayari scored the decisive goal, before Brighton produced a disciplined defensive performance to protect their advantage.

For City, the defeat raises concerns, particularly as they have now suffered consecutive league losses.

They'll need a response quickly to avoid losing further ground in the title race.

Brighton, meanwhile, deserve enormous credit.

Winning at the Etihad is no easy achievement, and this result will provide a huge confidence boost.

Tottenham 2-0 Crystal Palace

Tottenham continued their improvement with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace, although their opponents made life difficult for themselves early on.

Jean-Philippe Mateta was sent off after just 13 minutes, leaving Palace with a difficult task. Tottenham capitalised, with Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke finding the net to secure the points.

Spurs will be pleased to build on their recent progress, although they'll recognise the advantage of playing against ten men for most of the match. Palace, meanwhile, will be frustrated by a dismissal that ultimately cost them.

Aston Villa 1-1 Fulham

Aston Villa dropped two valuable points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham.

Nicolas Jackson gave Villa the lead, but a costly mistake from goalkeeper Zion Suzuki allowed Fulham back into the contest.

Fulham deserve credit for taking advantage and securing a useful away point. Villa, however, will see this as an opportunity missed, particularly given their ambitions this season.

They'll need greater consistency in the key moments.

Liverpool 0-1 Arsenal

The standout result of the weekend came at Anfield, where Arsenal secured a huge 1-0 victory over Liverpool.

Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal from a Declan Rice cross in the first half, giving Arsenal a lead they managed to protect until the final whistle.

Liverpool pushed for an equaliser, with Florian Wirtz coming particularly close, only to see his effort hit the woodwork. However, Arsenal's defensive organisation proved difficult to break down.

Winning at Anfield for the first time in 14 years makes this an especially significant result for the Gunners. It's a major statement of intent in the title race and demonstrates the resilience required to challenge for the Premier League.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will be disappointed with their lack of cutting edge in front of goal. They'll need to respond quickly after missing an opportunity to collect valuable points.

Newcastle 0-1 Everton

Newcastle suffered another frustrating home defeat, losing 1-0 to Everton.

Thierno Barry scored five minutes into the second half, and Everton held on to secure all three points despite Newcastle's attempts to find an equaliser.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts when Jacob Ramsey was sent off late on after receiving two bookings.

Newcastle will be concerned by their recent form, particularly their inability to turn home performances into positive results. Everton, meanwhile, will be delighted with an important away victory.

SUMMARY OF THE WEEKEND

Arsenal's victory at Anfield was undoubtedly the headline result of Gameweek 9. Winning at Liverpool's ground for the first time in 14 years sends a huge message to their title rivals.

Brighton's victory at Manchester City was equally impressive, particularly with City now suffering back-to-back league defeats.

Chelsea and Tottenham will also take confidence from their victories as they look to build momentum, while Manchester United continue to raise questions over their consistency and decision-making.

At the other end, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest have plenty of work to do after disappointing results.

Overall, it was a weekend full of drama, surprises and important talking points. With the title race beginning to take shape, every dropped point could prove costly as the season progresses.
