Premier League Gameweek 8 Round-Up

The Premier League just keeps on delivering, and Gameweek 8 gave us another weekend full of drama, big results and plenty of talking points.
Aston Villa stunned Manchester City, Arsenal kept up the pressure at the top, and Liverpool picked up a valuable win over Brighton.
Meanwhile, Tottenham claimed a huge London derby victory over Chelsea, Bournemouth caused problems for Manchester United, and Newcastle finally got themselves back on track. Here's how all ten games unfolded.
Aston Villa 2-1 Man City:

Aston Villa kicked off the weekend in style, handing Manchester City a massive defeat at Villa Park.
Nicolas Jackson was the star of the show, scoring twice to put Unai Emery's side in control, while Erling Haaland managed to pull one back for City.
Despite their late efforts, the visitors couldn't find an equaliser, and Villa held on for a brilliant three points.
For Villa, it's a huge result that should give them plenty of confidence after a difficult start to the season.
They'll be delighted with the performance, especially against one of the strongest sides in the league.
As for City, their perfect start is finally over, and they'll need to respond quickly if they want to keep their place at the top.
Arsenal 2-0 Everton:

The Gunners controlled much of the game and found the breakthrough through Ezri Konsa before Gabriel Magalhães added a second to wrap things up.
It wasn't the most exciting performance, but Arsenal did what was needed to secure all three points.
For Mikel Arteta's side, these are exactly the sorts of games that can make the difference in a title race.
With City dropping points, Arsenal will be delighted to have kept the pressure on. Everton, meanwhile, struggled to create much going forward and will be disappointed to leave without anything to show for their efforts.
Coventry City 0-1 Fulham:
Fulham picked up another valuable three points after leaving Coventry with a narrow victory, thanks to a late moment of quality from Oscar Bobb.
It looked like the visitors were heading for a frustrating afternoon after struggling to break Coventry down, but Bobb stepped up in the 80th minute with a lovely finish to finally find the breakthrough.
For Fulham, it's a massive result as they continue to build some momentum and climb the table.
Winning games like this, even when things aren't quite clicking, is always a positive sign.
Coventry, meanwhile, will be gutted to come away with nothing after making life difficult for Fulham for most of the afternoon.
Chelsea 0-2 Tottenham:

Chelsea struggled to make their chances count before Mike Penders put through his own net in the 77th minute to hand Spurs the lead.
Mathys Tel then doubled the advantage with a brilliant solo effort, while Cole Palmer's late dismissal made matters even worse for the hosts.
For Tottenham, it's a statement victory away from home and a result that should give them a real lift.
Beating Chelsea on their own ground is always special, and they'll be hoping this is the start of a more consistent run.
Chelsea, on the other hand, will be frustrated after failing to take advantage of playing at home and will need to respond quickly.
Crystal Palace 0-2 Newcastle United:

William Osula broke the deadlock just two minutes into the second half before Harvey Barnes doubled the advantage in the 58th minute.
Palace struggled to respond after going behind, and Newcastle did a good job of seeing the game out to secure all three points.
For Eddie Howe's side, it's a much-needed result after a frustrating run of form, and they'll be hoping this gives them something to build on.
Palace, meanwhile, will be disappointed with their second-half performance after failing to find a way back into the game.
They'll need to show more going forward if they're going to turn things around.
Hull City 1-1 Brentford:

Oli McBurnie gave Hull the lead from the penalty spot in the first half, putting the hosts in a good position to pick up a much-needed victory.
However, Dango Ouattara found the equaliser in the 63rd minute to earn Brentford a share of the points.
Brentford will be pleased with their response after falling behind, although they'll probably feel they could have done more to win the game.
Hull, meanwhile, will be frustrated not to have seen things out after taking the lead.
Their winless run continues, and they'll need to start turning these draws into victories if they're going to climb the table.
Liverpool 2-0 Brighton:

Brighton were the free runners of this season, scoring goals for fun but couldn’t manage to break down Liverpool's defence as they only managed to record one shot on target.
More positives for Iraola as his side sit in fourth now one point behind Brighton and six points off top spot.
Barcola and Isak impress as again the Frenchman sets up the swede who bags yet another goal!
Next up for Liverpool, are the Gunners and if they can win that one - it will be a massive statement victory.
Manchester United 0-3 Bournemouth:

Rayan opened the scoring in the 38th minute before Marcus Tavernier doubled the advantage just five minutes later.
Evanilson then added a third in the second half to complete a brilliant away performance and leave the home fans with plenty to complain about.
For Bournemouth, it's a fantastic result and another reminder that they can cause problems for anyone when they're at their best.
Manchester United, however, have plenty of questions to answer.
The performance lacked confidence and cutting edge, and the pressure is continuing to build on Michael Carrick as the side struggle to find any real consistency.
Sunderland 0-0 Leeds United:
Sunderland and Leeds brought the weekend to a quiet close with a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light.
Neither side managed to find the breakthrough in difficult conditions, and although there were a few promising moments at both ends, the finishing simply wasn't good enough to produce a winner. In the end, both teams had to settle for a point.
For Leeds, it's another point on the board, although they'll know they need to offer more in the final third if they're going to turn draws into wins.
Sunderland will also feel they missed an opportunity to pick up all three points in front of their home fans.
With their winless run continuing, they'll be desperate to find a way to get over the line in their next game.
Ipswich Town 1-1 Nottingham Forest:
Ipswich and Nottingham Forest shared the points in a game that saw both sides have opportunities to take all three.
Neco Williams gave Forest the lead in the first half, but Ipswich responded through Julio Enciso just before the break after a defensive mistake.
Forest pushed for a winner, but their finishing let them down as the hosts held on for a draw.
For Ipswich, it's a decent point against a side that will feel they had enough chances to win the game.
They'll be pleased with the response after going behind, although they'll want to show a little more going forward.
Forest, meanwhile, will be frustrated not to have taken all three points, as their inability to make chances count continues to be a concern.
