Arsenal battled to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium, capitalising on Manchester City’s slip-up against Nottingham Forest to move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table. With the title race entering its decisive phase, this could prove to be a pivotal result.

The match began at a high intensity, with both sides enjoying spells of possession and early attacking intent. Arsenal struck the decisive blow in the ninth minute following an excellent turnover in midfield.

Bukayo Saka cut in from the right and fired goalwards, his effort deflecting off Carlos Baleba, wrong-footing Bart Verbruggen and nestling into the net to hand the Gunners an early advantage.

Brighton responded positively, pushing forward with confidence as the game opened into an end-to-end encounter. The Seagulls dominated possession for large periods and applied sustained pressure, but they were unable to produce any clear-cut chances to equalise.

The hosts began the second half with renewed intensity, knowing the game remained alive at 1-0.

Wave after wave of attacks forced Arsenal to drop deeper, and Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to regain control of the match despite holding the lead.

Arteta’s substitutions, including Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard, helped relieve the mounting pressure and brought much-needed composure in the closing stages.

Arsenal managed the game intelligently, demonstrating the resilience and maturity that title-winning sides require.

Piero Hincapié earns my Man of the Match honours after a commanding defensive display.

Registering sixteen defensive contributions, he adapted impressively starting at left-back before shifting to centre-back following Cristhian Mosquera’s substitution due to a booking.

His versatility and composure were instrumental in securing Arsenal’s fourteenth clean sheet of the season, already surpassing last season’s total.

What the Result Means

Ultimately, Arsenal claimed a vital three points in a challenging midweek fixture.

Coupled with Manchester City’s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest, the victory strengthens the Gunners’ grip at the top and hands them a significant advantage heading into the final stretch of the Premier League season.
