Premier League: Weekend Round-Up

It was another action-packed weekend in the Premier League, with Arsenal maintaining their perfect start, Manchester City continuing to win, Liverpool finally getting their first victory of the season and plenty of drama elsewhere.

Ipswich 0-2 Liverpool:

Liverpool finally got their first Premier League win under new manager Andoni Iraola

as they comfortably saw off Ipswich at Portman Road.

Alexander Isak was the star of the show, scoring twice inside the opening nine

minutes to put the Reds firmly in control. Both goals were set up by Cody Gakpo,

who produced another impressive performance and looks increasingly important to

Liverpool's new-look attack.

There was also plenty of excitement around Bradley Barcola, who made his

Liverpool debut from the bench following his big-money move from Paris

Saint-Germain.

The French forward showed flashes of his pace and attacking ability

during his cameo and will give Iraola another dangerous option going forward.

Newcastle 2-2 Bournemouth:

Newcastle looked to be heading for a disappointing defeat after Bournemouth raced

into a two-goal lead, but the Magpies produced an excellent second-half comeback

to rescue a point.

Bournemouth were two goals ahead before Harvey Barnes pulled one back almost

immediately after half-time. Jacob Ramsey then completed the comeback with a late

equaliser, ensuring Newcastle remained unbeaten after their opening three games.

Brentford 1-1 Sunderland:

Sunderland earned a valuable point away at Brentford after coming from behind late

in the game.

Vitaly Janelt put Brentford ahead, but Enzo Le Fée kept his composure from the

penalty spot in the 81st minute to earn Sunderland a deserved share of the points.

Sunderland had actually been the more threatening side during the first half and will

feel they could have taken all three points.

Brighton 1-1 Leeds:

Leeds will probably feel this was a game they should have won after creating

numerous chances, but Brighton fought back to earn a point.

Jayden Bogle gave Leeds the lead — their first goal at Brighton in 12 years — before

Luka Vuskovic headed Brighton level in the second half.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ao Tanaka both had excellent opportunities to put Leeds further ahead, while Tanaka also had a goal ruled out for offside.

Fulham 2-3 Crystal Palace:

One of the weekend's most entertaining games saw Crystal Palace come from

behind twice to beat Fulham 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

Josh King gave Fulham an early lead before Tyrick Mitchell equalised. César

Palacios then restored Fulham's advantage before Mitchell scored his second to

make it 2-2.

Ben Chilwell completed the comeback with a 77th-minute volley to give Palace their first win of the season on his debut.

Manchester City 1-0 Coventry:

Manchester City kept their perfect start to the season alive, although they were made

to work hard for it against newly promoted Coventry.

Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the game, continuing his excellent start to the

campaign.

The Norwegian's goal was also a landmark moment, taking him to 300 club goals.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham:

It was another frustrating afternoon for Tottenham, who are still waiting for their first

Premier League goal of the season.

Spurs were held to a goalless draw at Nottingham Forest and failed to register a shot

on target. Forest thought they had taken the lead when Neco Williams bundled the

ball home, but VAR ruled the goal out for handball.

For Tottenham, the problem is becoming increasingly serious.

Three league games and not a single Spurs goal.

Hull 0-0 Aston Villa:

Aston Villa's difficult start continued as they were held to a goalless draw by newly

promoted Hull.

Villa had plenty of possession and created enough chances to win, but they remain

without a goal after their opening three league matches. Emiliano Buendía missed a

particularly good opportunity, while Hull's Mohamed Belloumi struck the crossbar late

on.

Hull, meanwhile, continue to impress. The Tigers are unbeaten after three games

and have not conceded a single goal.

Everton 2-2 Manchester United:

Manchester United looked set to leave Everton with three points, but a spectacular

late equaliser denied them victory.

Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead before Everton's Tyrique George levelled in the

closing stages.

Benjamin Sesko then appeared to have won the game for United with an 88th-minute header, only for Ainsley Maitland-Niles to produce a stunning long-range strike in stoppage time.

Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea:

The weekend's biggest game delivered exactly what was expected as Arsenal came

from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates.

Chelsea stunned Arsenal by taking the lead after just 77 seconds through Morgan

Rogers. Arsenal responded strongly, with Kai Havertz equalising in the 25th minute

before captain Martin Ødegaard completed the comeback early in the second half.
