Brentford were held to a dramatic 2–2 draw by Everton at the Gtech Community Stadium, as Igor Thiago made history with a record-breaking performance in the Premier League.
The Brazilian striker scored twice to take his tally to 21 league goals for the season, becoming Brentford’s highest goalscorer in a single Premier League campaign. However, his landmark moment was overshadowed late on as Everton snatched a stoppage-time equaliser to deny the hosts all three points.
Brentford made a fast start and were rewarded early when Kevin Schade was brought down in the box by Jordan Pickford after racing onto a through ball.
Thiago stepped up and calmly converted the penalty, continuing his outstanding form in front of goal.

Everton gradually worked their way into the contest and found an equaliser midway through the first half.
Jake O’Brien advanced down the right before feeding Idrissa Gueye, whose clipped cross into the six-yard box was met by Beto, who powered a header home to level the score.

The game remained open, with both sides creating chances.
Brentford came close to restoring their lead before the break, with Mathias Jensen seeing a long-range effort tipped wide, while Schade struck the crossbar during a frantic spell in the Everton penalty area.
After the interval, Brentford continued to apply pressure.
Chances came and went, with the woodwork denying them again and Pickford producing key saves to keep Everton in the game. At the other end, Caoimhín Kelleher was called into action, making important stops to deny Iliman Ndiaye and later Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The breakthrough eventually came in the 76th minute, albeit in fortunate circumstances.
Michael Kayode’s run into the box ended with a shot that deflected off Thiago and wrong-footed Pickford, allowing the ball to find its way into the net and hand Brentford the lead once again.

With time running out, Everton pushed forward in search of an equaliser and were rewarded deep into stoppage time.
After a blocked effort fell kindly inside the box, Dewsbury-Hall reacted quickest and fired a low strike beyond Kelleher to secure a point for the visitors.

Despite the late disappointment, the match will be remembered for Thiago’s record-breaking achievement, underlining his importance to Brentford’s European push.
For Everton, the result extends their strong run of form and highlights their resilience, particularly away from home.
The draw leaves both sides firmly in contention for European qualification, though Brentford will feel they missed an opportunity to secure all three points.
