Manchester United now move 6 places up the league, two places from the Champions League spots, after a 4-1 dismantling at Molineux against the worst Premier League team this season. United made this five unbeaten away from home and are back where they would like to be, but they did not make it easy for themselves.

The first ten minutes of the game saw Manchester United off the blocks almost going two up, both shots on target denied by former United academy goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. The deadlock broke in somewhat a laughing matter, by both sides, as a poor judgement by midfielder Andre saw a two-on-one situation from Manchester United that almost went up in flames. Bruno Fernandes, once again, proving why he is the heartbeat of United’s attack as the scruffy goal went in around the 25th minute.

While this defeat makes it 6 straight losses for Wolves, they can somewhat take a positive from this game. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde fired back for Wolves at the tip of half-time, breaking their poor record of 7 games without a goal. Poor defending at the back from Manchester United made fans worry but unsurprised by the goal as it seemed Wolves were destined to get a goal back. United allowed pressure at the near end of the first half, and Rob Edwards’ side took advantage. Wolves showed passion for the first time this season, but it all went away in the second-half.

Straight from the whistle, it seemed like it was a different United side. Chances after chance with Wolves allowing the pressure to see a goal for United were underway, and once again the deadlock broke in the 51st minute where Bryan Mbeumo got his 6th of the season, assisted by Diogo Dalot. A poor first half by Mbeumo was overlooked after this goal and his involvement in the third goal. Mason Mount proved his worth and provided Amorim with some depth in his squad as the Englishman, in fine form, grabbed his second goal in two starts for United. Manchester United were relentless, and Bruno Fernandes grabbed his brace after beautifully slotting the penalty in the 62nd minute.

Manchester United racked up 27 shots amounting to a humongous xG of 4.1, making that Amorim’s most attempts of shots of his United tenure.

Wolves meekly accepted another loss, and it seems like dark times are afoot, making this a club record eight straight league defeats. It does not get any easier for Rob Edwards’ side: a trip to Emirates for Wolves while Manchester United will host struggling side Bournemouth one week from now.
