West Ham United momentarily climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time since November as the Hammers held Manchester City to a 1–1 draw in London.
The shared point jeopardises the Sky Blues’ chances of catching league leaders Arsenal, with Pep Guardiola’s side now nine points behind the Gunners with a game in hand.
Manchester City dominated large periods of the game but missed several opportunities, while West Ham’s resilience, willingness to put bodies on the line, and a slice of fortune helped the East London side earn a valuable point.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Pep Guardiola reiterated how proud he was of his players and insisted that the title race is not over.
“We must fight until the end with the supporters behind us.”
City now leave London with back-to-back draws, following their earlier stalemate against Nottingham Forest, while also facing the daunting task of overturning a three-goal deficit in the Champions League in the coming days.
The opening half hour was largely uneventful.
Manchester City dominated possession while West Ham maintained a compact defensive shape. Clear-cut chances were limited, with the Hammers struggling to keep hold of the ball for long spells.
The game finally sparked into life in the 34th minute.
City captain Bernardo Silva opened the scoring when his lofted delivery into the penalty area caught West Ham goalkeeper Mats Hermansen off his line and drifted into the net.

Pep Guardiola celebrated from the stands as he continues serving a two-match touchline suspension following his behaviour in the FA Cup against Newcastle United.
West Ham responded almost immediately.
Former Arsenal defender Kostas Mavropanos powered home a header from Jarrod Bowen’s set-piece delivery, restoring parity just four minutes after City’s opener.

The Hammers nearly fell behind again shortly afterwards when Antoine Semenyo dragged a first-time effort just wide of the post.
The chance came after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was dispossessed by the pressing of Nico O’Reilly and Omar Marmoush, allowing Erling Haaland to find Semenyo in space.
However, the Ghanaian forward failed to punish West Ham’s defensive lapse, and the teams went into the break level at 1–1.
The second half followed a similar pattern.
Manchester City dominated possession while West Ham defended resolutely, determined to protect their point.
Haaland had City’s best opportunity when he was played through by Rayan Cherki, but his low effort lacked power and was comfortably saved by Hermansen.

City continued to threaten, with Tijjani Reijnders striking the woodwork from a set-piece.
The visitors’ best chance to win the match arrived late on when Marc Guéhi found himself unmarked inside the box following another Reijnders delivery.
However, the defender sent his effort high over the bar from close range, much to the delight of the West Ham supporters inside the stadium.
The final whistle confirmed a hard-earned point for West Ham, temporarily lifting them out of the relegation zone.
The Hammers now prepare to travel to the West Midlands to face Aston Villa, who have struggled for consistency with just one win in their last five Premier League matches.
Manchester City, meanwhile, face a huge week ahead.
Guardiola’s side must attempt to overturn a three-goal deficit against Real Madrid in the Champions League before meeting Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
With both the title race and relegation battle still alive, the closing weeks of the Premier League season promise to be dramatic.
