Tottenham Hotspur host Brighton & Hove Albion tonight at 17:30 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs are hoping to break their 13-game winless streak, while Brighton are aiming to bolster their European hopes with a win, which would move the Seagulls to within three points of fifth-placed Liverpool.
The Lilywhites’ form has been nothing short of abysmal no wins in 2026, and more managers than wins this year.
Brighton, on the other hand, have been soaring recently, with four wins in their last five games, including a dominant victory against defending champions Liverpool at home.
The Dark Reality for Spurs Fans…
The North London side currently sit 18th in the table, just two points behind London rivals West Ham United in 17th.
With just one point in their last five games, and fresh injuries ruling out Mohammed Kudus and Cristian Romero for the rest of the season, the situation looks bleak for Spurs under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is yet to make an impact following their defeat at the Stadium of Light last week.
Tottenham need a result tonight.
If they win, it could spark belief the floodgates could open, as the saying goes giving the players, fans, and De Zerbi confidence to build momentum and put pressure on their relegation rivals.
If they lose, could it be a condemnation to the Championship?
Tonight is paramount to Spurs’ survival. By 19:30, we will know how much fight this team truly has.
Brighton’s European Dream
Brighton’s ambitions of returning to European football are becoming increasingly realistic.
Ironically, their former manager Roberto De Zerbi led them to Europe for the first time in the club’s history in 2023 and now he has the chance to halt their progress.
The Seagulls come into this game under Fabian Hürzeler, who could replicate that success and guide the club back into European competition.
Hürzeler praised his counterpart ahead of the match:
“Roberto deserves praise because he had a huge impact on this club and had great achievements with the players. He reached Europe for the first time, so he deserves this praise.”
Team News
Without club captain Cristian Romero, Spurs will look to Kevin Danso, who has proven to be a reliable option.
They also remain without Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
However, De Zerbi confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma have returned to training and could feature.
Mathys Tel and Xavi Simons may also play, alongside Dominic Solanke leading the line.
Brighton will be without captain Lewis Dunk due to suspension, giving Olivier Boscagli the opportunity to start.
Danny Welbeck will lead the line, having scored 12 Premier League goals this season.
Predicted Line-ups
Tottenham XI:
Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Van de Ven, Udogie; Gray, Bissouma, Simons; Kolo Muani, Tel; Solanke
Brighton XI:
Verbruggen; Kadioglu, Boscagli, Van Hecke, Wieffer; Groß, Ayari; Hinshelwood, Gomez, Minteh; Welbeck
Tottenham have won this fixture 18 times compared to Brighton’s 8, but the south coast side have won two of the last three meetings setting up a tight and intriguing contest.
