Bayern Munich Take First-Leg Advantage as Harry Kane Strike Stuns Real Madrid

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich delivered a high-intensity Champions League quarter-final first leg, with Bayern taking a crucial advantage.

Within ten minutes, they created their first clear-cut chance as Kimmich delivered into the box, with Harry Kane teeing up Dayot Upamecano, who miscued from close range, allowing Álvaro Carreras to clear.

Real Madrid looked vulnerable early on, struggling to deal with Bayern’s pressing and control of possession.

Errors continued at both ends, with Bayern nearly capitalising on a mix-up involving Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andriy Lunin. Serge Gnabry came close, but Madrid survived.

Despite further chances for Mbappé, it was Bayern who struck first. Luis Díaz fired through Lunin’s legs to give the Bavarians a deserved lead heading into half-time.

Bayern resumed the second half in dominant fashion, needing just 30 seconds to double their advantage. Harry Kane curled a sublime effort from the edge of the box after Bayern won possession high up the pitch, giving Madrid a mountain to climb.

Bayern continued to dictate the game, with Kane nearly adding another, only to be denied by a crucial intervention from Federico Valverde.

Real Madrid responded, with Vinícius Jr. missing a key opportunity and Neuer producing a standout save to deny Mbappé again.

The hosts eventually pulled one back through Mbappé, but it proved insufficient to alter the result on the night.
