When people think of the Premier League, they think of big-name stars such as Erling Haaland, Mo Salah and Bruno Fernandes. But what is just as important is teams investing in academies and youth programs to produce homegrown talent who will ultimately be the future of our sport.
From teenage sensations lighting up stadiums to academy graduates stepping into key roles, the Premier League has become a proving ground for raw talent and rapid development. Week in, week out, young players have to perform in high-pressure environments knowing that one mistake could cost them their place in the team.
In this article, I spotlight five big names to look out for in the near future who could set the Premier League alight for years to come.
1. Mikey Moore – Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs have a very exciting prospect on their hands with Mikey Moore, who is incredibly just 17 years old. Moore has been used sparingly this season but when he has been called upon he has stepped up. He grabbed an important goal at home to Elfsborg in the final group phase game of the Europa League to seal Spurs’ spot in the Round of 16 and has carried an ever-present threat when coming off the bench in the league. A product of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, Moore was fast-tracked through the ranks, earning senior appearances before even turning 17 — a clear sign of how highly he is regarded by the club. He is comfortable on either flank, combining creativity with an eye for goal and regularly showcasing a high level of maturity. Moore looks set to be a key figure in the next generation of Premier League greats.
2. Tyler Dibling – Southampton

The amount of interest Southampton’s number 33 has already received this summer is evidence of how well he’s performed this season. Despite Southampton’s torrid league season, Dibling has been one of the few bright sparks. He is reportedly wanted by Tottenham and Manchester City, with the Saints demanding at least £100 million for the 19-year-old winger. The youngster has comfortably slotted into the Southampton first team, racking up 33 appearances and scoring two goals this season. There is no doubt that Dibling will light up English football for years to come, whether it be with Southampton or another club.
3. Tom Watson – Brighton & Hove Albion

Tom Watson stole the headlines on May 24th as his astonishing 95th-minute strike sent Sunderland back to the Premier League for the first time since 2016/17 and caused bedlam amongst over 35,000 Black Cats fans inside Wembley. This would turn out to be his last kick for the Mackems as Brighton signed him for £10 million in April for him to officially join on 1st June.
Brighton have a track record for developing young and unknown talents, so they will fancy their chances of success with the addition of Watson to their ranks. The Englishman can play anywhere across the front three but predominantly sits on the left wing. He has been one of Sunderland’s danger men this season with two goals in 11 starts, and he will hope to carry on his strong form in the blue and white stripes next season.
4. Vitor Reis – Manchester City

Another name beginning to attract attention in the Premier League’s youth scene is Manchester City’s Vitor Reis. The young defender, known for his composure on the ball and impressive reading of the game, has quietly established himself as one of the standout prospects on the blue side of Manchester.
Manchester City brought the 19-year-old Brazilian to the Etihad from Palmeiras in January 2025 as part of a £29.6 million deal and threw him straight into the mix on a rainy Saturday in East London as City battled hard to overcome an inspired Leyton Orient team.
Palmeiras under-20 coach Lucas Andrade expressed in January that Reis will have no problem fitting into City’s system and will no doubt flourish under Pep Guardiola. He is certain that the number 22 will have the brightest of futures, making him one to look out for in the Premier League.
5. Trey Nyoni – Liverpool

Liverpool signed the creative midfielder in September 2023 from the Leicester City youth system, and he has predominantly featured for Liverpool Under-18s and Under-21s but has the record of being the youngest player to feature for the Reds in the FA Cup in February 2024, aged 16 years and 243 days, after replacing Harvey Elliott and helping the team to a 3-0 victory over Southampton.
Nyoni has impressed at every level of Liverpool’s youth setup, and his versatility allows him to operate both as a deep-lying playmaker or further forward in attacking roles, making him a valuable asset in midfield. With Liverpool’s strong track record of nurturing young talent, Trey Nyoni is a name fans will likely be hearing much more of in the coming seasons.
