Liverpool 4-2 Bournemouth

An emotional night at Anfield began with tributes to Diogo Jota, including retiring his No. 20 shirt across all squads. Hugo Ekitiké and Cody Gakpo fired Liverpool into a 2-0 lead before Antoine Semenyo struck twice to level for Bournemouth. But Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah sealed the win late on—Salah setting a record with his 10th goal on Premier League opening days.

Man United 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal stole the win at Old Trafford thanks to a goalkeeping mistake from Bayindir, allowing Calafiori to score. Despite United dominating possession and creating chances, David Raya kept them out with multiple big saves. Amorim’s new-look United showed promise, but Arsenal did what champions do—grind out results.

Wolves 0-4 Man City

No slip-ups from City, who demolished Wolves with a dominant performance. Haaland scored twice, Reijnders and Cherki added debut goals, and City’s title intentions were clear from the first whistle.

Sunderland 3-0 West Ham

A dream Premier League return for Sunderland. Promotion stars Ballard and Mayenda scored headers before new boy Isidor wrapped it up on the break. West Ham looked off the pace and toothless, while Sunderland looked sharp, hungry, and well-organised.

Tottenham 3-0 Burnley

Thomas Frank’s Spurs reign began with a bang. Richarlison bagged a brace—including a stunning scissor kick—while Kudus starred with two assists. Brennan Johnson added the third to complete a commanding win.

Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

Despite over £250m worth of attacking talent on display, Chelsea couldn’t break down a disciplined Palace side. João Pedro, Palmer, Neto, and Bynoe-Gittens all failed to make their chances count. Eze had a goal ruled out for Palace, who looked dangerous early on.

Nottingham Forest 3-1 Brentford

Forest came flying out the gates with goals from Chris Wood (twice) and debutant Dan Ndoye. Igor Thiago’s late penalty was a mere consolation for Brentford, who struggled throughout under new boss Keith Andrews.

Brighton 1-1 Fulham

Matt O’Riley gave Brighton the lead from the spot, but Rodrigo Muniz rescued a dramatic point for Fulham with a 96th-minute equaliser. Brighton controlled much of the match but paid the price for not killing it off.

Aston Villa 0-0 Newcastle

Newcastle couldn’t take advantage of Konsa’s red card as they drew a frustrating blank at Villa Park. Gordon and Elanga both missed chances, while Villa’s only shots came in the second half. Isak’s absence was felt.

Leeds 1-0 Everton

A late penalty from debutant Lukas Nmecha gave Leeds a perfect return to the top flight. Leeds dominated throughout, and Everton failed to produce anything meaningful in attack.
