Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur F.C: A shutout with neither side yet to win this season

The Forest ground saw a quiet match between Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur, with the Lilywhites not managing a shot on target. 

Neither Forest nor Spurs have won a match this season, with the North London side yet to score a Premier League goal.

Roberto De Zerbi this week said: “This team is a work in progress” and based on the first half, more work needs to be done.

Spurs started the game stronger with 5 corners in 10 minutes, which bore no fruit, with 70% possession to accompany this.

The game slowly progressed into a stagnant, cagey affair where Forest looked to counter Tottenham's possession-based dominance with quick counterattacks focused on getting Liam Delap and Dan Ndoye in behind.

Both teams' play was directed by their creative players; for Forrest this was Morgan Gibbs-White and James Mcatee whilst for the lilwhites everything came from Savio and Sandro Tonali.

Tonali seemed to be everywhere, creating and disrupting attacks whilst the Reds were constantly pressing him, trying to disrupt the away side's rhythm.

As the first half progressed, Forest grew into the game as Morgan Gibbs-White got on the ball more often and got in behind the Spurs defence.

As the half-time whistle blew, the Tottenham players walked into the dressing room without a shot on target between them.

Forest finished the half with 26 xG and a tame effort on target from James Mcatee.

The second half started with Spurs starting stronger than the home side, with Omar Marmoush and Savio seeing more of the ball and winning a free kick and 3 corners before the 54th minute.

In the 60th minute, the £75 million man Savio was taken off for the returning Mohammed Kudus, much to the Brazilians' frustration who appeared to be a bright spark for the Lilywhites.

The game surged into an end-to-end game with Kinsky finding Marmoush on the counter-attack, who split the defence only for Spurs' Egyptian striker to balloon the ball over the bar as Kudus begged for the ball to be squared.

In the 70th minute, Chris Wood and Mykhailo Mudryk entered the frame for Matthias Tel and Liam Delap.

Dominic Solanke's introduction provided Spurs with a focal point upfront who came closest to scoring with a looped header that just flew over the bar.

The final whistle blew; the points were shared between the two teams, with Spurs marginally the better side.

12 shots for each side with only two on target, Tottenham move into 17th again with their first point of the season and Forrest with their second point of the campaign moving them into 16th.

A complete and utter snoozefest with neither side able to muster a victory or any indication that they deserved to win.

For the North London side, they had positives to take into next weekend's Everton game with a clean sheet and the introduction of Kudus being a bright spark alongside Savio, who made his Premier League debut.

Oliver Glasner will be disappointed with his side's inability to win once again, but a clean sheet for the Midlands side as they play away at Villa Park.
