Tottenham performed magnificently, dominating Manchester City in this Saturday's early kick-off.
The week started off on the wrong foot for Tottenham, missing out on signing Eberechi Eze to archrivals Arsenal, but the second the first whistle blew, all was forgotten.
Heading into the tie, both teams were seemingly in form, Spurs having beaten Burnley 3-0 at home and Man City thrashing Wolves 4-0 at Molineux in their first games of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Early pressure from the Citizens kept Tottenham waiting for a breakthrough, but it took just over 30 minutes until the away side spurs took the lead.
A beautiful, weighted header from Pape Sarr led the ball into Richarlison's feet. The Brazilian ran the ball down the right-hand side and played a perfect pass into Brenan Johnson, who capitalized and slotted the ball into the back of the net.

However, it was the 46th minute that a frustrated Man City will be replaying, as 22 year old James Trafford’s blunder cost the home side another goal, passing the ball to Tottenham’s number 9 in his own box. It was an unacceptable error that gifted Tottenham a 2-0 cushion right before the break.
What is most impressive about Tottenham’s performance was their ability to hold their 2-0 lead. Whilst Haaland had chances, City were kept at Bay for the entirety of the second half, Solanke and Tottenham could’ve even made it 3-0.
Whilst commenting on his second league win for Tottenham, Thomas Frank said "after the first goal, we were the better side". It was a game that breathed a new sense of life into his Spurs side.
Tottenham have an impressive away record against Manchester City, winning 3 of their last 5 premiership games on City's home turf, only losing once. In these five games, there were an astonishing 21 goals. With such an admirable record, Tottenham fans are already looking forward to heading back next season.
