City will be looking to bounce back from their bad start to the season with back-to-back wins after beating league One side Huddersfield Town away 2-0 in the Carabao cup. The goals from Phil Foden and Savinho were a big contrast from their last premier league game where they dropped into a low block to defend their lead against arsenal only to come out with a point due to late equaliser from Gabriel Martinelli breaching Manchester City’s rigid nine-man defence in injury time.
Scott Parker takes his Burnley squad to the Etihad, where they meet a Manchester City side dealing with a string of injury and fitness setbacks among their key players. Only Mateo Kovacic is back in training with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Abdukodir Khusanov, Rayan Cherki, and Omar Marmoush all sidelined. Scott Parker is feeling confident going into one of their hardest games of the season and insists his Burnley side are “not fearful one bit” heading into tomorrow’s clash. Despite losing their last 13 games against the blue side of Manchester he believes despite the recent results he can take confidence from their displays against the Liverpool, Manchester United and even Tottenham.
Manchester City will be relying on players like Phil Foden to break down a difficult Burnley defence that held the champions to only 1 goal and 4 shots on target despite dominating the ball with 81% possession. With City still finding rhythm and Burnley unafraid of the challenge, tomorrow’s clash at the Etihad could test the champions’ resilience once again.
