What was meant to be a day of celebration for Liverpool Football Club and its supporters took a devastating turn, after a car was driven into crowds during the club’s Premier League trophy parade in the city.
The incident occurred on Water Street, towards the tail end of the parade route, where thousands of fans had gathered to mark the club’s league triumph. A man has since been arrested on the scene after allegedly ploughing into the crowd — causing panic and immediate intervention by Merseyside Police.
Liverpool FC Release Statement
In the aftermath of the incident, Liverpool FC released an official statement confirming their awareness of the situation and ongoing communication with emergency services.
“We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening,” the club said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident. We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this.”
The full extent of injuries or damage has not yet been confirmed, but eyewitness footage shows significant distress among the crowd as police swiftly moved to secure the area.
An Unthinkable Moment on What Should’ve Been a Joyous Day

This was supposed to be a moment of joy — a chance for fans to come together and celebrate Liverpool’s return to the top of English football. Instead, the end of the day was marked by sirens, confusion, and fear.
While many supporters had already begun to disperse after seeing the team bus, those remaining on Water Street were caught in the middle of the terrifying scene.
