Tottenham Hotspur ended their five-match losing streak with a stoppage-time equaliser from Richarlison, securing a 1–1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield after Dominik Szoboszlai’s first-half free-kick had put the hosts ahead.

Liverpool controlled much of the contest and created the better opportunities, but were ultimately punished for failing to extend their lead as Spurs struck late to claim a valuable point in their fight near the bottom of the table.

The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when Szoboszlai produced a moment of quality from a set piece.

After Alexis Mac Allister was fouled on the edge of the Tottenham penalty area, the Hungarian stepped up from around 25 yards and curled a powerful effort over the wall.

Guglielmo Vicario got a hand to the shot but could not prevent it from finding the top-left corner.

It was Szoboszlai’s fourth direct free-kick goal in the Premier League this season, the most ever scored by a Liverpool player in a single campaign in the competition.

Only David Beckham (2000–01) and Laurent Robert (2001–02) have scored more direct free kicks in a Premier League season.

Liverpool Miss Chances to Extend Lead

Arne Slot’s side pushed for a second goal after the interval and created several promising opportunities.

Rio Ngumoha, Ryan Gravenberch and substitute Mohamed Salah all tested Vicario as Liverpool searched for the goal that would put the game beyond reach.

Salah and Hugo Ekitike were introduced in the 64th minute as Slot attempted to increase Liverpool’s attacking threat.

However, the home side continued to lack the finishing touch despite sustaining pressure for long periods.

Tottenham offered occasional danger on the counter-attack, with Richarlison, Djed Spence and Xavi Simons each going close.

As the match entered the final minutes, Alisson Becker looked set to secure victory for Liverpool.

But Spurs found a dramatic equaliser in the 90th minute.

Vicario launched a long ball forward which was brought down well by Randal Kolo Muani, who held off Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson before laying the ball into the path of Richarlison.

The Brazilian finished first time into the bottom corner, rescuing a point for Tottenham.

The late equaliser extended a frustrating trend for Liverpool.

They have now conceded eight Premier League goals in the 90th minute or later this season, the most they have ever allowed in a single league campaign, surpassing the seven they conceded in 2010–11.

The result ensures Tottenham avoid a sixth straight defeat and move one point clear of the relegation zone.

Liverpool, meanwhile, miss the chance to move level with fourth-placed Aston Villa in the race for Champions League qualification.
