Leeds United welcome Premier League leaders Arsenal to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon for a 15:00 kick-off, with both sides arriving in need of points for very different reasons. Leeds are aiming to pull further clear of the relegation battle, while Arsenal will be desperate to reignite their title charge after a stuttering run of league results.

Leeds sit 16th in the table, just above the relegation zone, following a hard-fought 1–1 draw away at Everton. Despite their position, Daniel Farke’s side have been difficult to beat, losing just one of their last 10 Premier League matches. That lone defeat came away at Newcastle, where two stoppage-time goals turned the contest late on.

While Leeds’ recent form has been encouraging, consistency has proven elusive, with six of those ten matches ending in draws. Even so, their resilience and growing confidence suggest Arsenal face a challenging test at one of the division’s most hostile venues.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are winless in their last three Premier League fixtures, most recently suffering a 3–2 defeat to Manchester United. That loss brought an end to their seven-game winning streak and has increased pressure on Mikel Arteta’s side to respond. Winter periods have often been problematic for the Gunners in recent seasons, though there have been positives away from domestic competition.

In Europe, Arsenal’s Champions League campaign has been impressive. A 3–2 victory over Kairat secured an unbeaten group-stage finish at the top of the table, underlining their ability to perform on the biggest stage despite recent league frustrations.

History strongly favours the visitors. Arsenal have scored four or more goals in eight separate Premier League meetings with Leeds, including a dominant 5–0 victory in the reverse fixture in August. The Gunners are also unbeaten in their last six league visits to Elland Road, a run stretching back to November 2000, representing their longest ever unbeaten sequence against the Whites.

For Leeds, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been central to their campaign, leading the scoring charts with nine goals. Encouragingly for Farke’s side, no Premier League team has lost fewer matches than Leeds since the start of December, further highlighting their defensive solidity and resilience.

Team News

Leeds will be without Jaka Bijol until late February, while Gabriel Gudmundsson and Daniel James remain doubts. Arsenal, however, received a boost as Arteta confirmed that both Jurrien Timber and William Saliba are available after missing the midweek Champions League fixture due to minor injury concerns.

Arteta is fully aware of the challenge awaiting his side and the importance of a strong response to maintain momentum at the summit. Arsenal’s quality makes them favourites on paper, but overcoming a confident and combative Leeds side at Elland Road will require a disciplined and authoritative performance.
