Fulham host Burnley as both sides search for a well needed three points
The season’s tale for these two outfits differs in many ways, but both find themselves needing a win to bounce back after a difficult run of games.
For Fulham, three matches against relegation-threatened sides have yielded just four points, as they beat Tottenham, lost to West Ham, and drew 0–0 with Nottingham Forest.
Their visitors on Saturday, Burnley, are also coming off the back of a disappointing goalless draw, but the Clarets’ winless stretch extends much further than just the last two games.
Five matches ago, Burnley produced a remarkable comeback to beat Crystal Palace their first win since late October but Scott Parker’s men have failed to follow that up since.
Fulham Eye European Push
The Cottagers have maintained a strong league position throughout the season, but recent results have seen them slip slightly away from the European places.
Marco Silva will be eager to ensure his side returns to contention with a win on Saturday.
Fulham also boast an impressive record against newly promoted sides, losing just one of their last 14 matches against them a statistic they will look to extend this weekend.
Burnley’s Struggles Continue
History offers mixed encouragement for Burnley.
While they have won three of their last four trips to Craven Cottage, their broader away record is concerning:
Just one clean sheet in 41 Premier League away matches
This defensive vulnerability is compounded by struggles in attack, leaving Burnley exposed at both ends of the pitch.
Key Players to Watch
Martin Dúbravka has been a standout performer for Burnley this season. The experienced goalkeeper has made 108 saves, and without his contributions, the Clarets’ situation could be significantly worse.
He will need to be at his very best this weekend, particularly against a Fulham side led by an in-form Harry Wilson.
Wilson is enjoying arguably the best season of his career:
9 goals
6 assists
He is on course to become the first British Fulham player to reach double figures for goals in a single Premier League campaign since Andrew Cole in 2004/05.
His 15 goal involvements are also the highest for a Welsh player in a single Premier League season since Aaron Ramsey recorded 18 in 2013/14.
Burnley’s defence will need to be at its sharpest to contain him.
Burnley’s Goal Threat
Goals have been difficult to come by for Burnley, with much of their attacking responsibility falling on:
Zian Flemming
Jaidon Anthony
Both players share the club’s top scorer title this season with seven goals each.
Meanwhile, Tunisian midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has shown encouraging form, providing energy and creativity in midfield and emerging as one to watch in this fixture.
