Arsenal shared the points with Brentford in an entertaining, end-to-end game at the G-Tech Stadium. Noni Madueke opened the scoring for Arsenal with a superb header across goal, before Brentford responded ten minutes later when Keane Lewis-Potter equalised from a long throw. Both teams had chances to secure all three points but failed to take their opportunities when they came.
Arteta’s side dropped points in the title race, remaining four points clear of Manchester City, while Brentford boosted their European ambitions with a hard-earned draw.

The match began at a high intensity, with Arsenal controlling the opening spells of possession. However, Brentford soon regained control and piled on waves of pressure against the Gunners. The Bees created a great chance through a sublime Matheus Jensen cross, which Igor Thiago headed across goal, but David Raya produced a magnificent reflex save from point-blank range to keep the game at 0-0.
With both sides creating opportunities, Arsenal gradually regained control as the half wore on. Brentford, though, caused real problems in the first period organised defensively, threatening on the counter-attack and limiting Arsenal to very few clear-cut chances. It was a frustrating half for Mikel Arteta, who looked to his bench to make an impact in the second half.
The Gunners started the second half with real intent and intensity. The introduction of Martin Ødegaard brought Arsenal the control and fluidity they had been lacking in the first half.

The breakthrough came in the 61st minute through a superb header from Noni Madueke following a pinpoint cross from Piero Hincapié on the left-hand side to put the Gunners 1-0 up. Arsenal had an opportunity to double their lead just minutes later, but Declan Rice was caught overplaying during a transition moment. The Gunners will regret not putting the game to bed.
Following Arsenal’s opener, the match opened up as Brentford pushed for an immediate response.

The hosts found it in the 71st minute, equalising from a long throw that Lewis-Potter headed past Raya at the back post.
Both teams sensed there could still be a winner as the contest turned into end-to-end football. Arteta brought on attacking reinforcements, but it proved too little, too late.
In the end, the points were shared in an exhilarating encounter. Keith Andrews will be delighted with both the result and his side’s performance, proving once again a difficult test for Arsenal. Arteta, meanwhile, will be frustrated as Arsenal drop points in the title race.

However, the Gunners remain four points ahead of Manchester City and still have a game in hand an opportunity that could restore their advantage to seven points.
