Jeremie Frimpong is set to become Liverpool’s first major signing of the summer, with the Dutch international due for a medical within 48 hours ahead of a €35 million move from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old right-back has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal running until 2030. Liverpool will activate his release clause in full, with paperwork currently being finalised.
Frimpong is seen as a direct replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to join Real Madrid in the coming weeks. The Reds acted quickly to secure Frimpong, who played a key role in Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten Bundesliga campaign, registering double-digit assists across all competitions.
His arrival is a clear sign of Liverpool’s intent under incoming manager Arne Slot. The club is targeting pace and pressing in its rebuild, with Frimpong fitting that profile perfectly.
The medical is expected to take place at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre by Monday.
