Arsenal FC welcome AFC Bournemouth to the Emirates for an early 12:30 kick-off on Saturday, as the league leaders look to maintain their advantage at the top against the in-form Cherries.
Bournemouth currently sit 13th in the Premier League and have enjoyed an impressive run of form in recent months, showcasing that this won’t be an easy game for Mikel Arteta’s side.
They are on an unbeaten run of more than ten games, although their last defeat came against Arsenal in the reverse fixture. However, the Cherries have slipped down the table following a run of five consecutive winless league games.
Arsenal, meanwhile, hold a nine-point gap at the top of the table and could extend that lead further if Manchester City were to lose against Chelsea on Sunday.
Despite recent disappointment in cup competitions, the Gunners showed great character and resilience in midweek, with Kai Havertz coming off the bench to snatch a late 1-0 victory away to Sporting.
That result could prove vital in restoring confidence as they continue their pursuit of a first league title in 22 years.
Recent meetings between the sides suggest this will not be straightforward. Bournemouth have won two of the last four encounters, although Arsenal edged a 3-2 victory in their previous meeting this season, with Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhães among the scorers.
Bournemouth possess several in-form players, but one of their standout performers this season has been forward Eli Junior Kroupi. The young attacker has scored nine goals and will be a key threat for the visitors.
Team News
Arsenal are without Mikel Merino until late May. Several key players including Leandro Trossard, Martin Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka, Piero Hincapié, and Jurriën Timber remain doubts.
However, Arteta confirmed positive news that Eberechi Eze may be available for selection following his return to training this week.
For Bournemouth, Tyler Adams and Matai Akinmboni are doubts, while Lewis Cook, Justin Kluivert and Julio Soler are expected to miss out through injury.
With a challenging run of fixtures ahead, Arteta will be eager to secure another strong home performance and build momentum in the run-in.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, will look to produce a surprise result against the Premier League leaders and strengthen their push for a European place.
