The opening exchanges were cagey, with neither side willing to take early risks. Arsenal gradually grew into the contest, asserting control through sustained possession and applying pressure by pinning Liverpool into a compact low block. Jeremie Frimpong dropped into the defensive line as the visitors focused on absorbing pressure rather than committing bodies forward.

Liverpool weathered Arsenal’s spell and responded with a period of sustained pressure of their own. Their best chance of the first half came when a ball was played in behind the defence, leading to a mix-up between William Saliba and David Raya.

The loose ball fell to Conor Bradley, whose chipped effort rattled the crossbar. Aside from that moment, Liverpool largely succeeded in limiting Arsenal’s attacking threat before the interval.

The second half saw the intensity rise, but Arsenal struggled to regain control. A frustrating spell followed, marked by repeated turnovers and a lack of cohesion in midfield. Liverpool’s defensive shape and Arne Slot’s tactical adjustments disrupted Arsenal’s rhythm, contributing to a disjointed performance from the hosts.

Both sides pushed for a late winner, yet neither could find a decisive breakthrough. Arsenal finished the match with just 0.57 expected goals, while Liverpool registered 0.36 xG, underlining the lack of clear-cut chances at either end.

Ultimately, it was a fair result. Neither team created enough to feel they had dropped two points, though Arsenal may feel they missed an opportunity to move eight points clear at the summit.

Even so, Mikel Arteta’s side extend their lead to six points at the top of the Premier League, maintaining control of the title race despite an underwhelming night in front of goal.
