Palace struggled to build on their early lead and gradually faded as Sunderland grew in confidence. Aside from Pino’s opener, clear chances were few and far between, with the visitors failing to register sustained pressure in the final third. Henderson prevented the scoreline from becoming more emphatic with several key saves, but Palace’s lack of attacking cohesion was evident as their winless run continued.

Sunderland’s approach was built on territorial dominance and quick ball circulation, particularly down the flanks. Their ability to recover from losing positions has become a hallmark of their season, and once they equalised, Palace found it difficult to regain control.

Palace, by contrast, struggled to manage the game after going ahead. Defensive transitions were slow, and their midfield was frequently bypassed as Sunderland forced turnovers high up the pitch.
