The Turkish Süper Lig resumes this weekend with Matchday 5 scheduled for 13–15 September, following the international break. The pause allowed clubs to reset and integrate new signings, but now the spotlight returns to domestic competition.

Off the pitch, the week has been defined by major coaching changes: Çağdaş Atan has parted ways with Başakşehir, Domenico Tedesco has officially taken over at Fenerbahçe, and at Beşiktaş, Sergen Yalçın prepares for his second match since returning. Unlike his rushed debut, this time he has had the chance to work with the squad, making it his first real test back in charge. High-profile transfers also continue to shape the narrative, with Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and other clubs strengthening key positions in their squads.

Marquee Matchups

Eyüpspor vs Galatasaray

One of the main storylines for Galatasaray after the break is Barış Alper Yılmaz, who released a statement addressing the transfer saga and is now back in the squad. He is expected to feature against Eyüpspor, while new signing İlkay Gündoğan is also set for his first appearance in yellow and red. Osimhen, who picked up a minor injury on international duty, will not play. Up front, questions remain over whether Mauro Icardi will start as he continues working back to full fitness, or if Buruk will rotate his attacking options.

Fenerbahçe vs Trabzonspor

The standout fixture of the week is the derby in Kadıköy. For Fenerbahçe, it marks Domenico Tedesco’s debut as head coach. While excitement among fans has been muted, much of the focus is on whether Tedesco will implement his trademark three-at-the-back system—a formation that has historically struggled in the Süper Lig. Trabzonspor, meanwhile, face the challenge of replacing captain and star goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır, who departed for Galatasaray. His replacement, Andre Onana, will make his debut in one of the toughest possible settings: a high-stakes derby against Fenerbahçe.

Beşiktaş vs Başakşehir FK

Sergen Yalçın will take charge of his second match back at Beşiktaş. Unlike his rushed debut, he has had time to prepare during the international break, making this his first real test of his second spell. Başakşehir, meanwhile, head into the clash amid managerial uncertainty following the departure of Çağdaş Atan.
