Paris Saint-Germain strengthened their status as Champions League favourites with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Barcelona in Paris.

Goals from Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz secured the European champions' third consecutive victory over the Catalan giants, despite second-half strikes from Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García produced an outstanding performance, making several crucial saves, but his heroics were not enough to prevent PSG from extending their unbeaten Champions League run to 13 matches.

Luis Enrique's side dominated the opening exchanges, overwhelming Barcelona with relentless pressing and fluid attacking movement.

The visitors struggled to establish any rhythm, with Hansi Flick's side repeatedly losing possession in dangerous areas.

PSG suffered an early setback when Ousmane Dembélé appeared to injure his hamstring after 20 minutes, forcing the Frenchman off against his former club.

Despite the disruption, the hosts continued to create opportunities, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Doué causing constant problems for Barcelona's vulnerable defence.

García was instrumental in keeping the visitors competitive, producing several outstanding saves as PSG threatened to take complete control.

However, the breakthrough eventually arrived in the 38th minute after Yamal's misplaced pass gifted the hosts possession.

João Neves intercepted the ball before Doué danced inside and fired a powerful right-footed effort into the bottom corner.

PSG deserved their half-time advantage, although Barcelona were fortunate to trail by only one goal following a dominant opening period from the European champions.

The hosts maintained their intensity after the restart, with García denying Achraf Hakimi from close range to record his ninth save of the evening.

However, Barcelona unexpectedly equalised shortly after the 55-minute mark when Espart surged into space and drilled a powerful effort beyond Matvey Safonov.

The goal sparked renewed belief among Flick's players, although García remained their standout performer as PSG continued to threaten.

The hosts eventually restored their advantage through Hernández, who powered home a thumping header from a corner to score his first goal in two years.

With 10 minutes remaining, Yamal produced a moment of individual brilliance to bring Barcelona level again.

The teenager capitalised on Warren Zaïre-Emery's misplaced clearance before squeezing a remarkable left-footed effort into the roof of the net from an almost impossible angle.

However, Barcelona's celebrations lasted barely two minutes as Vitinha unleashed a stunning strike to restore PSG's lead.

Fabián Ruiz then completed the scoring, escaping his marker and finishing into an empty net with García stranded.

The 4-2 scoreline reflected PSG's attacking superiority but hardly did justice to García's extraordinary performance.

Without the Spanish goalkeeper's interventions, the European champions could have settled the contest long before the dramatic closing stages.

PSG's victory extended their unbeaten Champions League run to 13 matches and reinforced their credentials as serious contenders to retain their European crown.

Paris Saint-Germain return to Ligue 1 action against Lyon on Sunday before travelling to Villarreal in the Champions League on November 3.

Luis Enrique will hope his side can maintain their impressive momentum across both competitions.

Meanwhile, Barcelona face Real Madrid at home in Sunday's El Clásico, with Flick desperate for an immediate response following a disappointing defensive display in Paris.

The Catalans must rediscover their defensive discipline ahead of one of their biggest fixtures of the season.
