Mansfield Town 1–2 Arsenal: Madueke and Eze Send Gunners into FA Cup Quarter-Finals

Arsenal secured a 2–1 victory over Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium in the FA Cup fifth round, thanks to strikes from Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze.

The match began at a high intensity, with both sides creating early opportunities. The best chances fell to Max Dowman for Arsenal and Louis Reed for Mansfield as the two teams looked to assert themselves.

The Gunners took time to adapt to the nine changes made to the starting XI, with two 16-year-olds, Dowman and Salmon, handed starts. However, as the half progressed Arsenal began to settle and gradually took control of possession.

The breakthrough came in the 40th minute following a superb left-footed strike on the edge of the box by Noni Madueke.

The shot bent into the top-right corner after a cut-back from Gabriel Martinelli. Arsenal had been knocking on the door with several chances and deserved their 1–0 lead going into half-time.

The hosts started the second half with renewed intensity and equalised in the 50th minute following a defensive mistake from youngster Marli Salmon.

Will Evans capitalised on the error to level the scoring for Mansfield Town and briefly ignite hopes of a cup upset.

Arsenal restored their lead in spectacular fashion in the 66th minute through Eberechi Eze, who had only been on the pitch for four minutes after coming off the bench.

The midfielder unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the area that flew into the top-right corner, leaving the Mansfield goalkeeper with no chance.

The Gunners pushed for a third goal to extend their advantage but squandered several big chances in front of goal, giving Mansfield hope of finding a late equaliser.

However, Arsenal ultimately held on to secure victory and progress to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Max Dowman was one of Arsenal’s standout performers. The young midfielder displayed impressive skill, maturity and technical ability against players with far more experience.

He was unlucky not to get onto the scoresheet after repeatedly gliding past defenders.

Mansfield produced a spirited performance and pushed Arsenal right to the very end, but the Gunners did enough to secure their place in the next round.
