Will going on to win Europe's greatest prize mean they will dominate both in Italy and across the continent for years to come?

The Nerazzurri’s Recent Success

Inter Milan have been Italy's most consistent club over the past four seasons. With a squad built on resilience and a system rooted in balance, they’ve reached two Champions League finals in three seasons and lifted the Scudetto twice during that time.

In both of their recent title-winning campaigns, Inter lost only six matches — a testament to their growing confidence and ability. While they fell short in the 2023 Champions League final, losing out to the treble winners Manchester City, their route to the final displayed just how much the club had evolved.

Simone Inzaghi: Out of the Shadows

Long overshadowed by his brother Filippo Inzaghi for most of his career, Simone Inzaghi has now firmly stepped into his own spotlight as a manager. He began his coaching career at Lazio, where an impressive haul of three trophies caught the attention of the Inter Milan hierarchy.

Operating on a budget smaller than that of more than half the Premier League clubs — with only £60 million spent in the summer window — Inzaghi has consistently shown he can maximise his resources. With seven free-agent signings over the past two summer windows, the standout being Marcus Thuram, the Italian manager has shown remarkable shrewdness in the transfer market.

A Dynasty in the Making?

Inter’s squad is a blend of experience and youthful talent. Lautaro Martínez continues to shine, while players like NicolòBarella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Federico Dimarco provide a strong Italian core. Add to that the emergence of Yann Aurel Bisseck and the experience of Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Benjamin Pavard, and it’s clear this side has depth and continuity.

Their dominance in Serie A has become routine, and they’re starting to show signs of similar control in Europe.

A recent 4–3 victory over Barcelona in the second-Leg Champions League semi-final, culminating in a 7–6 aggregate win, is a testament to their growing maturity on the European stage.

Looking Ahead

While missing out on the Scudetto would be a disappointment, Inter would be more than satisfied if the Champions League ends up being their sole piece of silverware this season.

With the right reinforcements in the summer and continuity under Inzaghi, Inter can continue their success and remain the team to beat both in Italy and in Europe
