Liverpool came from behind to beat nine man Brentford 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Victor Muñoz and Alexander Isak were on the scoresheet for the Reds and Keane Lewis-Potter for the Bees as Iriolas won for the first time against Brentford in his career.

Brentford were reduced to nine men as the game went on, seeing two red cards shown to Yehor Yarmoliuk and Vitaly Janelt.

The Reds trailed at half time as the hosts enjoy a brighter start with Keane Lewis-Potter's

header sealing the first and only goal.

Early chances came for the visitors as Bradley Barcola made a charge but remained

unsuccessful, missing big chances.

Fresh off his Champions League hattrick on Wednesday, the wait for his first Premier League

goal for the club continues.

The Reds thought they had a breakthrough when Alexis Mac Allister was brought down in the box by Dango Ouattara but VAR review overturned the initial penalty decision.

Adding to the struggles for the travelling team, Dominik Szoboszlai limped off injured after just half an hour.

However, the match turned completely in first half stoppage time when Yehor Yarmolyuk was

shown a straight red card via VAR for a violent clash with Jérémy Jacquet.

Soon after, the Reds drew level on 61 minutes through Victor Muñoz, after a counter attack

spearheaded by Florian Wirtz.

Just nine minutes later, Isak marked his return from a thigh injury, converting Barcola's headed pass from close range to secure the win.

Keith Andrews attested to his players' fight after the match, saying: "The performance, again, fills you with immense pride, because right until the end, we continued to throw punches."

Andrews acknowledged the challenge Liverpool posed and the need for his side to manage key moments better.

Brentford defender Sepp van den Berg, who made his first appearance of the season against

his former club, said: "With 10 men it was always going to be hard. We've had a great season so far and one game doesn't define us."

After securing the winner, Isak expressed happiness with the win, emphasising the importance of concentration and seizing opportunities in front of goal.

On a less positive note, Iraola shares that he will be missing both Dominik Szoboszlai and

Jeremie Frimpong "for some time," which casts a shadow over the victory ahead of their

Champions League game against Villarreal on Tuesday.

This result lifts Liverpool above Brentford in the table on 12 points into fifth place, while the

defeat was the Bees' first of the season, leaving them sixth on 10 points.

Liverpool now turn their attention to Villarreal on Tuesday, October 20 in the Champions League.

Brentford's next assignment is Hull City away in the Premier League next Sunday, October 25.
