An English duo shone as Arsenal put Bayer Leverkusen away under the Champions League lights to progress into the quarter-finals.
Eberechi Eze opened the scoring in the first half with a thunderous half-volley into the top corner, striking on the turn to ease the nerves inside the Emirates before half-time.
In the second half, England’s powerhouse midfielder Declan Rice beautifully placed a low effort inches inside the bottom right-hand corner to give the Gunners some much-needed breathing room.
David Raya once again made a handful of impressive stops to keep Leverkusen at bay on a crucial night for Arsenal.

A spectacular light and fire show preceded the night’s entertainment as thousands inside the Emirates waited with bated breath for what looked set to be a tight affair.
The game began largely as expected, with Arsenal dominating possession while Leverkusen attempted to stay compact defensively.
The visitors’ defence held firm for the opening half-hour, restricting the Gunners to very few clear chances.
Brazilian centre-back Gabriel had the first opportunity of the night, directing a header from a dangerous Bukayo Saka corner, but his effort drifted off target.

It wasn’t long before Leverkusen goalkeeper Janis Blaswich was forced into action.
After Arsenal’s high press forced a turnover, Saka squared the ball to Leandro Trossard, whose effort looked destined for the top corner before Blaswich produced a remarkable save.
However, Arsenal’s pressure soon paid off.
Eze controlled a difficult ball with composure, turned, and unleashed a stunning strike a goal worthy of any stage sending the Emirates into celebration and putting Arsenal firmly in control.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Arsenal continuing to dominate.
Leverkusen offered little attacking threat, and the Gunners appeared comfortable as they pushed towards the latter stages of the competition.
Despite that control, Arsenal knew a one-goal lead was not enough against a side known for resilience.
Declan Rice stepped up.

While not as spectacular as his previous Champions League moments, his precise finish proved decisive, doubling Arsenal’s advantage and effectively sealing progression.
Leverkusen showed some fight late on, forcing a handful of saves from Raya, but never truly looked capable of turning the tie around.
Arsenal remained composed and saw out the game professionally.
What’s Next for Arsenal?
At full-time, the quarter-finals beckon.
Arsenal now know they will face Sporting CP in the next round.
Before that, attention turns to domestic matters, with the Gunners set to face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final this weekend.
The question now is clear: How far can Arsenal go?
